I do not continue to teach students who do not practise and I keep in very regular contact with parents to review progress.
I have been teaching piano for nearly twenty years and I enjoy my work very much. I have a long list of students past and present who have progressed from beginners to grade 8 standard and beyond to diploma level. I have an outstanding record of success at classical piano and jazz grades: the overwhelming majority of my students gain merits or distinctions.
Most of my piano students are intermediate to advanced but I enjoy taking on beginners at the start of their journey.
My approach to teaching is friendly but businesslike. I will enquire after the health of the hamster but I prefer to spend lesson time teaching not chatting. The Associated Board is my favoured exam board although I do have some students who follow the London College of Music examinations. It is not a requirement to study for graded exams and several of my current students learn piano purely for their own enjoyment and satisfaction without the stress of preparing for exams.
Tuition is offered at the student's home or, during lockdown, online.
